Stanza desktop refuses to share after iTunes 9.1 update

I updated today to iTunes 9.1 and Stanza Desktop refuses to share books anymore. It gives the following message:

Stanza can only share books with your iPhone or iPod if you have the Apple "Bonjour" software installed. Would you like to launch your browser to the install page for Bonjour?

I downloaded the Bonjour app, which I had already had installed. Still it won't find Bonjour. The Bonjour webpage says the newest version of Bonjour was released 3/31/10. I suspect that release broke Stanza Desktop.

Are there other options for sharing books from my computer that work with the Stanza app now that the USB sharing has been disabled? Does anyone else wonder if the Bonjour update was meant to kill the Stanza app? Or should I just take off my tinfoil hat and go about my business?

Just reinstall Stanza and say

FOUND A FIX

STEP 1 - UNINSTALL BONJOUR MAKE SURE YOU CLOSE ITUNES ETC (CLICK START, THEN CLICK CONTROL PANEL, THEN UNDER PROGRAMES YOU WILL SEE UNISTALL A PROGRAME, THEN MOVE DOWN TO BONJOUR AND UNISTALL

STEP 3 - SAVE THE FILE TO THE DESKTOP AND DOUBLE CLICK IT AND INSTALL

STEP 4 - ONCE INSTALLED OPEN RESTART YOUR COMPUTER AND OPEN STANZA

STEP 5 - OPEN ANY EBOOK AND THEN OPEN YOUR STANZA APP ON YOUR IPOD

STEP 6 - IN THE STANZA TOOL SETTINGS MAKE SURE ENABLE SHARING AND ALLOW ANONYMOUS SHARING ARE BOTH CHECKED AND HAVE A TICK NEXT TO THEM

NOW YOU WILL BE ABLE TO SHARE AS NORMAL BETWEEN STANZA DESKTOP AND YOU IPOD

IF YOU HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH TIMING OUT AND NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIND YOUR BOOKS WHEN USING STANZA APP ON IPOD TOUCH PLEASE FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS BELOW

HOW TO FIX THE PROBLEM OF TIMED OUT ERROR AND EBOOKS NOT SHOWING
STEP 1 - ON YOUR COMPUTER OPEN UP CONTROL PANEL
STEP 2 - CLICK ON SECURITY, THEN CLICK ON WINDOWS FIREWALL
STEP 3 - CLICK ON CHANGE SETTINGS (IF YOU COMPUTER PROTECTION IS ON THEN CLICK YES, IF NOT IGNORE THIS STEP)
STEP 4 - THEN MOVE TO THE TAB THAT SAYS EXCEPTIONS
STEP 5 - MAKE SURE BONJOUR HAS A TICK NEXT TO IT
STEP 6 - CLICK ADD PROGRAM AND ADD STANZA AND MAKE SURE IT HAS A TICK NEXT TO IT
STEP 7 - MAKE SURE JAVA(TM) PLATFORM SE BINARY HAS A TICK NEXT TO IT. THEN CLICK OK
STEP 8 - OPEN UP STANZA ON YOUR DESKTOP AND CLICK ON TOOLS AND MAKE SURE THERE IS A TICK NEXT TO ENABLE SHARING
STEP 9 - OPEN ANY EBOOK IN STANZA DESKTOP AND OPEN UP THE STANZA APP ON YOUR IPOD TOUCH OR IPHONE
STEP 10 - ON STANZA ON YOUR IPOD TOUCH/IPHONE GO TO SHARED BOOKS AND NOW YOU WILL SEE YOUR EBOOKS YOU HAVE
OPENED IN STANZA DESKTOP IN YOUR SHARED BOOKS ON YOUR IPOD TOUCH/IPHONE

I Too Have The Same Issue

I have bought thousands of ebooks for work as I am at medical school and now I find that they are useless as I have purchased these in many formats and now can not share them with Itunes 9.1 I have tried reinstalling Stanza on both Laptop and Ipod Touch and I have turned off my firewall while installing. Everytime I open Stanza Desktop I keep getting the same message over and over again TO ENABLE SHARING PLEASE DOWNLOAD BONJOUR AND REOPEN STANZA DESKTOP. I HAVE DONE THIS OVER 30 TIMES ALREADY TODAY. PLEASE can someone fix this problem, I am assusming that it is not a hard problem to fix. If anyone else has the same problems I am having, and may have found a solution please email on leeannathomas@live.co.uk. Thank you

Apparently it is caused by the new version of Bonjour that gets installed along with iTunes 9.1. It seems to be affecting quite a few apps. The fix is to replace this with an older Bonjour release until Apple get around to fixing whatever it is in Bonjour that has introduced this problem.

As a last ditch option, I uninstalled Stanza from my computer and downloaded and reinstalled it. Worked like a charm!!

This is the solution that worked for me, too. To flesh this out:

(1) Uninstall everything Bonjour from your computer. I believe you'll find two files in Uninstall Programs (caveat: I'm using Windows 7--no problems on my Mac :-). One is Bonjour Print Services; can't remember about the other one but I think it just said Bonjour.
(2) Restart your computer
(3) Reinstall Stanza and, of course, let it install Bonjour.

That's it. Versions 1.xx of Bonjour work. I believe Stanza for Windows b1.18 or whatever ships with Bonjour 1.01. Apple Software Update will offer to update it to Bonjour 1.0.6--feel free to let it do so. The problem is with Bonjour 2.whatever that came with the iTunes 9.1.1 upgrade.

I just used the option of emailing the .epub files to my gmail address and it worked flawlessly. :-)

To be clear, this is Wi-Fi sharing that Bonjour seems to have broken.

reinstalling the app saved my day...

I had the same problem and simply reinstalled Stanza Desktop and let it reinstall the Bonjour app when asked (maybe an embedded one in the install exe...) and everything went back to normal. I can share my books again with my Iphone.
