PDF Import - Question Marks every other character

When I tried to import a PDF file (an Apple programming doc) in Mac Desktop with the latest beta, all I get is garbage like this for the entire content with occasionally readable text:

?#?P?K?O?C?V?K?Q?P ?C?P?F ?6?K?O?K?P?I ?%?N?C?U?U?G?U ????
?.?C?[?Q?W?V ?/?C?P?C?I?G?T ?%?N?C?U?U?G?U ????
?6?T?C?P?U?C?E?V?K?Q?P ?/?C?P?C?I?G?O?G?P?V ?%?N?C?U?U?G?U ????
?%?Q?T?G ?#?P?K?O?C?V?K?Q?P ?4?G?P?F?G?T?K?P?I ?#?T?E?J?K?V?G?E?V?W?T?G ????

When I cut and paste from Apple Preview, it's normal text, but line breaks are missing.

Are there any settings I am missing to import PDFs? Thanks.

missing characters in pdf

Hi,
I use Stanza version 1.0.0 beta 16 build #1.396, which apparently has expired but is also the newest availble.
I have a 15'' MacBook Pro with OX x 10.5.7 installed. I have an iPhone 3G with OS 3.0 installed.

I converted a .doc to pdf with Acrobat Professional. Everything was fine. I opened the pdf in Stanza Desktop and characters are missing, as far as I can tell consonants when there are two of the same kind following, e.g. "planning" became "planing". However, the error does not occur with every word that has a double consonant.
Any clue?
Thanks
sebastian

Adobe pdf from websites- Stanza desktop wont load them.

Hello People!

I have archived certain websites in PDF and for some reason stanza can not load them.

Have any one of you successfully "synced" pdfs made from websites using adobe pro to the iphone using stanza?

Poor support for complex pdf layouts

pdf files with complex layouts (2 columns, sidebars, etc.) aren't properly formatted when opened with stanza desktop. The words from different columns are mixed up, and spaces are removed from some sentences, turning them into one long word.

I would love to be able to read my scientific journal articles on my ipod, so could you please improve the pdf feature? Thanks!

Stanza Opens in Word Format

Whenever I open a PDF file in Stanza Desktop, it automatically opens it as a Microsoft Word Document with all the formatting lost. I understand that the file may have originally been created by MS Word and saved as a PDF file, but is Stanza supposed to be able to open the PDF file without converting it back to MS Word format?

Comic Book

I have a comic book on pdf format I want to put on my ipodtouch but with stanza the cover page is all that comes out is there a way to put an all picture pdf on the ipod thhrough stanza?

manually assigning chapters

hello,
i've imported a pdf file into stanza which turned in to a long text with not distinction between the different chapters. i'd like to be able to manually organize it somehow and break it in to chapters. is there a way to insert some sort of "chapter break" in the text?

Syllable breaks visible in Kindle

In the process of converting PDFs to the Kindle format, I have created a problem. I convert the PDFs to HTML and use Stanza to convert the HTML to .azw files. It looks fine on the Stanza desktop, but the text on the Kindle contains visible syllable breaks. So, the sentence "the Roman centurions slowly advanced" looks something like "the Ro-man cen-tur-i-ons slow-ly ad-vanced." The text is properly formatted otherwise.

Any ideas?

Trying to put books from Google on the iPhone

I did a Google search for a book and it was available for download as a pdf file. I'm trying to import it to Stanza, but when I put it on the phone, I can't get past the Google disclaimer page. Any suggestions?
