PC Magazine: “Stanza is the best e-book reader for the iPhone, and my favorite.”
— 21 Cool iPhone Apps - Stanza
In the process of converting PDFs to the Kindle format, I have created a problem. I convert the PDFs to HTML and use Stanza to convert the HTML to .azw files. It looks fine on the Stanza desktop, but the text on the Kindle contains visible syllable breaks. So, the sentence "the Roman centurions slowly advanced" looks something like "the Ro-man cen-tur-i-ons slow-ly ad-vanced." The text is properly formatted otherwise.
Any ideas?
Did you ever find a solution
Did you ever find a solution to this, as I am having a similar problem. I even exported to HTML and I don't see syllable breaks, yet on the Kindle, there they are.
If you disable hyphenation
If you disable hyphenation (using the "View"->"Hyphenation" menu in Stanza Desktop), does that change it?
Also, which version of Stanza Desktop are you using? We haven't heard of this problem with more recent versions.
Try turning off hyphenation
Try turning off hyphenation in Stanza Destop before exporting to .azw to see if that helps.
