Book Info not working properly for me

I am converting a bunch of text files for my Kindle using Stanza Desktop for OSX (10.5.6). My conversions never work properly. This is what I'm running into:

1. I use "Title: Title Author: Author" at the beginning of the TXT file. Stanza imports it, and finds the Title and Author info correctly. When I export to Kindle or Mobipocket format, and put it on my Kindle, the Author info is not there.

1a. If I reload the exported AZW or MOBI file into Stanza, it loads with the following at the beginning:
Title
By Unknown
Title
By Author

It's very frustrating. I also find it annoying that the "Title:" and "Author:" lines remain as the first lines of the text. If one is going to parse specifically-formatted text as metadata, then one should remove that text from the actual data.

2. If I load a TXT file without the Title and Author called out with "Title:" and "Author:" lines at the beginning of the file, and I use the Book Info panel to fill in that info, Stanza does not display the information. So I save the file as an EPUB, and reload it. When I load the EPUB in Stanza (to export it as an AZW), it comes back like this:

Title
By Author

Title
Title
Title
Title
Title

(There's the properly formatted header info, and then the first five lines of the file are the title repeated.) As a test, I put this file on the Kindle, and the author info still doesn't show up. The five recurrences of the title in the first five lines of text do show up, however.

2a. Reloading the AZW in Stanza that was exported from the EPUB yields this:

Title
By Unknown

Title
Title
By Author

Title
Title
Title
Title
Title

3. TXT files with long titles (as defined in the "Title:" line) appear to flummox Stanza, and they come through as "Unknown by Unknown".

All I want is to have text properly reflecting who the author is. That's all I want. I'd use TXT files on the Kindle, but they don't support author info. So I'm trying to convert them to something that does, that the Kindle can use. Stanza was looking like that tool, but so far, this is very bugged for me.

If anyone can suggest something, I'd be very grateful.

What is the timeline on the next update?

Has Lexcycle committed to a date for the next release version?

We hope to have a new version

We hope to have a new version out soon, but there's no specific date set for the release.

The good news for Kindle users is that Calibre now supports export to Kindle format. I think this is very new, and we haven't tried it out yet, but you should give it a try:

This is an annoying bug in the export to Kindle. We do hope to have it fixed in the next version of Stanza.
