I struggled and struggled to get the instructions I found on this site to work. Wanted to be able to get a MSWord doc into Stanza to read on my iPhone. Easy enough to get the doc into Stanza desktop, but I got stuck trying to sync. Changing the "Internet Sharing" settings in System Preferences (as described in the FAQ's on this site) didn't make any sense, and didn't work when I tried to do what I thought it said. My solution: created a computer-to-computer network on my Mac using the pull-down menu under the Airport icon on the menu bar. (Accepted the default name offered when prompted.) Opened Settings on my iPhone, went to "Wi-Fi" and then when presented with a list of possible networks to join, I selected "Other..." and typed in the name of the Computer-to-Computer network I'd created on my Mac. Went to Stanza app, selected Shared Books, and my Computer popped up immediately on the list. Downloaded the file in an instant. I thought I'd share this procedure in case there's anyone else like me who's spent hours trying to solve this puzzle. BTW, I love Stanza as a reader app for my phone!
Firewall setting?
Neat solution. Are you on Leopard? I found that if I go to Preferences, the Security tab, and the Firewall tab, and hit the plus sign and add Stanza Desktop there, that I don't need to do anything else from there on. No need to set up or change anything in Internet settings, no need to switch under Airport. I just launch SD and it works like a charm!
