Download Failed - Safari cannot download this file

I have an iPhone 2.2 3G. I downloaded Stanza as a iphone App. I purchased a book from the stanze.fictionwise.com website. I login to my account>I select Bookshelp>I click on the Download link; at this point the download page that says "Download with begin shortly" appears. After a couple of seconds I get an error message on my iPhone that says "Download Failed - Safari cannot download this file". I try clicking on the "click here" link on the download page and I get the same error message.

I've tried clearing the cache, history, cookies from the iphone and nothing works. Also, I am NOT accessing the book from the email. I'm accessing the download file directly from the site.

For the record, I can download the file on my Mac (fyi, I have not download Stanza for Mac yet because I just want the process to work without my Mac)

I've checked the forums and nothing appears to solve this issue. I can't get past this screen. Please help, this is extremely frustrating.

will not unlock the download

I have bought a book and when I try to download it asked for my name on my credit card and my credit card number. i entered these and the message is unlock failed. The name is correct and number is correct. I have downloaded free books before and I have bought one before on standza, this is the first time I have had this trouble.

The name you enter into the

The name you enter into the unlock dialog needs to exactly match the billing name as defined in your account information, rather than necessarily matching the name on the credit card. These might sometimes vary. Can you log into your account at the retailer (e.g., fictionwise.com or booksonboard.com) and check to see the exact spelling of the name?

Another way to check is to download the ebook to your local desktop machine and try to open it in the free "eReader" application, which you can download from http://www.ereader.com/ereader/software/browse.htm. If you are able to open the book in the eReader program but not in Stanza using the same name and credit card, please do let us know.

Downloads from safari fails

I need step by step help on how to download things on the web to my iphone. It is just impossible and keep on saying that safari could not download this page. Ive been struggeling and searching the web for faultfinding and outcomes to solve the problem, but it is just impossible. Please someone help, it cant be that difficult. I bought the phone to have a good quality user friendly phone, but it seems like you need a genius to operate it.

You can't use the iPhone to download most files, since you can't choose where to store them or how you want to open them.

I bought a new iphone 3g and I already feel like taking it back coz 1st I can't even download anithing safari keeps on displaying "safari cannot download this file" and also with the iTunes I opened an account with them and everytime I try accessing iTunes it always displays that I have no account with itunes or when I try downloading or buying music it always shows that my authorization failed.this is killing me I'm stuck with a useless phone which was quite expensive please help

Since this is a forum just for Stanza, which is a program for reading ebooks on the iPhone, we probably can't help you very much with general iPhone problems.

You should probably contact Apple customer support if you are having trouble with your iTunes account.

First of all, thanks for purchasing a book from the stanza.fictionwise.com store. I apologize that you have had problems getting to the book that you just purchased.

When you say you login to your account, where are you? Are you in Safari on the iPhone? If that is the case, please see if the following instructions help:

From the initial screen which is titled "Library", please tap "Online Catalog"
The title of this next screen should be "Online Catalog". Tap on "Fictionwise Book Store"
The title of this next screen should be "Fictionwise Bo...". Tap on "My Bookshelf"
The title of this next screen should be "Login to My Bookshelf". Stanza should now prompt you for your stanza.fictionwise.com login information.
Enter your information and tap the blue "Submit" button at the top right of the screen.
This should take you to a screen titled "My Bookshelf" where you should be able to find the book that you purchase. Click on the book.
The title of this next screen should be "Book Info". Tap the blue "Download" button at the top right of the screen.
Stanza will prompt you again. Tap the red "Download" button.
Tap the "Read Now" button to start reading your book

Let us know if you still experience problems or if you have any additional questions. Also, let us know if this resolved your issue.

Safari cannot download this file.

Thankyou this always happens to me too. Im typing this on my ipod touch 3g. That i got this year and well when i try to download adobe, mozilla, etc... from the HOME page it says Safari cannot download this file. It makes so mad b/c i can't do stuff on mu ipod like play games or even access my homework online becausr it wont let me. Please explain.

You have to enter your credit

You have to enter your credit card information to unlock your book. This demonstrates to the publisher that you bought the book yourself. You will only have to enter your credit card the first time you download a book. Your card will not be charged and the number will not be saved.

can't log in to "My bookshelf" from Ipod touch

by the time I get to this step and enter my log in information, it BRIEFLY bounces me to what appears the bookshelf page and then bounces me right back to the login screen. I know I am logging in with the correct information. This is so frustrating I'm about to tear my hair out. When I turn my ipod off and go back to my stanza app, it miraculously is on the bookshelf page and just continues to show the "loading" message with the loading symbol turning round and round ad infinitum. I just want to read my books!!!

There are sometimes temporary

There are sometimes temporary problems with accessing My Bookshelf. For now, try this instead:

1. Go to Online Catalog in Stanza.
2. Tap the plus sign in the lower right.
3. Select "Add Web Page".
4. Enter a name for your the web page (e.g., Stanza by Fictionwise), and then enter stanza.fictionwise.com for the URL. Make sure to type that exact address, without a "www"! Hit Save.
5. Tap your web page name in the Online Catalog.
6. Sign in right there with the username and password you used when you bought the book in Stanza.
7. If you don't immediately see your book, tap Bookshelf. Then tap the Download link next to your book, and proceed from there.
