Hi,
Okay, sorry, I posted this on Sharing in my newbie eagerness, but have decided that this needs a separate topic for people to find who are having a similar problem.
Now that I've transferred my .rtf documents successfully, (see How Does Sharing Work) I notice that there are strange font quirks. I think Stanza is substituting one symbol for another. For example, It's possible that a dash, or - is being replaced with É. Who knows why, but these strange É's are appearing where it looks like a pause in dialogue or maybe a quotation mark?
Also, apostrophes are being left out, as in 'don't' appears as dont, or similar.
Hopefully these will be resolved soon?Without too much trouble to the management.
Thanks!
I'm just so tickled that now I can read Stargate fan fiction on my iTouch!!!!!! Hee, heee!

I went back into textedit and
I went back into textedit and saved the file in different plain text encoding [unicode instead of western] and my punctuation is now fine.
cheers
I am having a similar problem
I am having a similar problem with my punctuation, in this case with quotation marks being replaced with a large O with a mark above it. I have tried loading this document of plain text in various formats: rtf, txt, html, doc - but they all seem to result in the same problem.
Thanks for the great application!

Are you seeing this in every
Are you seeing this in every RTF document you try to transfer? Also, if you open the RTF file in TextEdit.app and then save it as Plain Text, and then load the text file into Stanza, do you see the same problem? And what happens if you save it as HTML and then load it into Stanza? Knowing that will help us narrow down the possible causes of the problem so that we can fix it in Stanza (and additionally may provide you with a temporary workaround for your problem).
Another quirk
I will check on your suggestions and get back to you.
Also, in the last document I read, I had quotations and then farther on in the document I did not. It was difficult to tell whether the characters were thinking or speaking because there were no quotation marks. I will check to see if this is the case in the original file.
Thanks for the suggestions.

Brain: Pinky, are you pondering what I'm pondering?
Pinky: Uh, I think so, Brain, but we'll never get a monkey to use dental floss.
Lack of quotations
I checked and it seems that once a .rtf file is converted to .txt the punctuation problems go away. I got my quotation marks back when converting to .txt, as they were non-existent in .rtf.
It would be nice if this could be rectified in future since it would mean not having to convert other files of various formats into Plain Text.
Still......I can read on my iTouch! Hurrah!

Brain: Pinky, are you pondering what I'm pondering?
Pinky: I think so, Brain. But if Jimmy cracks corn and no one cares, why does he continue to do it?
Thanks for testing it out and
Thanks for testing it out and letting us know. We will be working to improve these sorts of issues for future releases of Stanza.
