Stanza from iTunes App Store

I just installed the free beta of Stanza from the iTunes App Store, and I'm quite excited about a book reader that supports a number of formats (hopefully eventually .lit too!), though I am running in to one issue.

The beta comes with the book "The Time Machine", which shows up in the "library" in the application. The instructions on the site for adding books to iPhones were apparently written for pre-iPhone App times, as this just puts the book into Safari (obviously). Are there instructions somewhere that I missed for adding a book directly to the Stanza library on my iPhone? I previously had been using Books.app, so if it is necessary (for the time being) to sftp the books over, and then repair permissions, like I was doing before, I have no issue with that.

I dont have Internet on myb laptop, Stanza program does not work, why I will do to make work without have Internet on my laptop? I BELIEVE EVERYTHING IS POSSIBLE. That mean gave someone know this.

You could use Stanza Desktop

You could use Stanza Desktop to save your books in the ePub format and then upload them to http://bookworm.oreilly.com so you can download them to your iPhone (as discussed at http://www.lexcycle.com/faq/how_to_get_books_onto_stanza_iphone).

Is there any chance Stanza will be restored to the iTunes App Store? My coworker was showing it off yesterday, and it looks fantastic.

There was a glitch in the App

There was a glitch in the App Store's handling of an update to Stanza. It should show up again in the App Store shortly.

Stanza desktop for Mac

After downloading and following directions for Beta 13 of desktop Stanza, when I click on Stanza in applications all I get is a blank screen. What is the trick? I dragged the icon into the applications folder as directed, but no luck.

We are certainly considering

Stanza doesn't currently display any initial opening text; it is a bit like Preview.app or TextEdit.app in that regard. You can open books by selecting the "File"->"Open" menu item. As Stanza moves along the beta process, we expect to include some initial help text in the screen to guide the user along commonly used tasks. If you have any specific questions on how to use Stanza to load books and transfer them to your iPhone/iPod (which is discussed at http://www.lexcycle.com/faq#3n67), please don't hesitate to let us know.

My advice to all the developers releasing an e-book app on the AppStore: release everything on Android and various competing mobile platforms too. This way, you’re not entirely screwed if Apple is in a bad mood.

Stanza on Iphone - does not launch

I installed Stanza from iTunes App Store and after install click the Stanza icon, the screen goes black and the desktop returns. I have re-booted phone with no change (Iphone is original hardware with v2.0 installed)

We haven't heard of that

We haven't heard of that problem before. Could you try deleting and re-installing it? You can delete stanza by pressing and holding the icon until the "X" appears, and then clicking the "X", and then going back to the App Store and re-downloading it.

Let us know if you still have the same problem after doing that, and we will continue to investigate.

Its all good and well giving us links....

We already have them and have followed them and STILL no joy

still saying searching for shared books, its on the same network, plus no notification saying iphonr wants to share

If you have confirmed that both the devices are on the same network, can you check the Console on your Macintosh to see if you are receiving any errors when you enable/disable the "Tools"->"Sharing" option? You can read about providing troubleshooting details from the console messages at:

Problems synchronising

I am trying to transfer a book from Stanza to my iPod Touch using the new App. I followed the new instructions in the FAQ but after I click on "Shared Books" it does not show my computer name. All I get is a message that says "Searching for Shared Books" and it sticks there. What could I be doing wrong?

I did just discover the "Stanza Online Help" button on my iPhone goes somewhere other than where the Support link in iTunes goes (Help button goes to http://www.lexcycle.com/stanza-iphone-help ), but all that describes is getting free books from the online repository. Is there any way to add my own books?
