1.5 - books in Cyrilic?

First of all, thanks for the great (and free) app! It's the best app I've seen and really turns the iPod Touch into a e-reader, it's something Apple should have made themselves, but I guess they weren't as good you as, guys :) :) And I am also happy to see that the new version is finally in the Store!
Now my question:

Is the Cyrilic alphabet now supported in v 1.5?

I think that this is important, the iPod touch itself does support the Cyrilic alphabet, I am able to open and read such websites and e-mails. Then why not read books in my native language (Bulgarian) as well?

Thanks for the quick

Thanks for the quick reaction! :)
I hope that you'll fix the issue with Project Gutenberg.
Anyway, Stanza is great! :)

We have not seen any problems

We have not seen any problems with Cyrilic characters so far in Stanza. Is this happening in a book you download from the internet, or from a book you share via Stanza Desktop? If the latter, what is the format of the file that you are loading in Stanza Desktop? Some formats (notably RTF) sometimes lose encoding information; this can often be corrected by opening the source file in your text editor and then saving it out as plain text or HTML, and then opening the text file or HTML file in Stanza Desktop, and then sharing it with the iPhone.

If that doesn't solve the problem, if you can take a screenshot of the offending page and send it to us at support@lexcycle.com (by opening the book in Stanza iPhone, holding down the top sleep button and lower round button at the same time until the screen flashes, and then opening the screen capture that will have been added to your iPhoto library), we'll take a look and try to determine what the problem might be.

not working :(

Here is the situation so far: The book was downloaded from the net: via the Stanza on the iPod Touch, I downloaded a book in Bulgarian from the Project Gutenberg catalogue... and it's not working properly, the encoding is not working.
I am still on Stanza 1.4 Later today I will update to 1.5, but I don't think that would solve the problem :( I'll let you know.
Sorry, but I can't take a screenshot, the device wants to turn itself off instead of taking a screenshot? Maybe I'm not pressing the buttons correctly.

There haven't been any

There haven't been any changes to encoding in Stanza 1.5, so it probably won't help to upgrade (although here are a lot of other nice features, so you may want to upgrade anyway).

Can you let us know which book you downloaded so we can try it out?

And regarding taking a screen capture, some pretty good instructions can be found here: http://www.on-a-mac.com/2008/07/12/iphone-screenshot/

Thanks for the quicks

Thanks for the quicks replies!
First I downloaded one book, then I decided to try with a differe one, but again I had the same problem.
The two books are:
Hristo Botev - The Poems of Hristo Botev
Ivan Vazov - Epopee of the Forgotten

Both from the Project Gutenberg. It would be great if you could try to open them and see what happens?
Thanks for the link, I took a screenshot and sent it to your e-mail directly from my iPod. Hope we can get the Cyrilic to work...

You are right; the characters

You are right; the characters are not being converted properly. This is actually a flaw with our integration with Project Gutenberg in our catalog server, rather than a bug in Stanza iPhone itself. Which is to say, you should be able to load other books in Bulgarian that you find from a non-Gutenberg source.

We will work on trying to correct the problem. Thanks for bringing it to our attention.
