After opening a book file on the Stanza desktop (version 1.0.0-beta12 build #1:360) with Windows XP desktop I enabled sharing (and anonymous sharing) in the tools menu. I am able to see the title of the shared book on the Ipod. After touching the book title, the Ipod tries to download the book but ultimately fails with a timeout.
I have removed and re-downloaded Bonjour from the Apple website. I have opened port 9562 on my router, I have turned off the Windows firewall (I also tried the firewall with Stanza and Bonjour set as exceptions) and disabled Kaspersky Internet Security Program. All to no avail. Still get the timeout message. Is there anything I'm missing here? This is the best app I have found for my Ipod and its so frustrating to get right up to the last step and continually fail at downloading. Stanza app on the Ipod downloads books from feedbooks.com without problem.
Hi I have the same problem.
Hi I have the same problem. I can't even see my shared books because it gives me a timed out message. I turned of my firewall and re-installed stanza and bonjour. Nothing doing. How can i get it to work.
In addition to Nick's
In addition to Nick's suggestion, have you looked through the suggestions at http://www.lexcycle.com/faq/troubleshooting_sharing ?
Time out
Hi,
I also get a timeout message however I do not get to the stage of seeing the book on my Touch. I am running Vista. Are there any tried and trusted steps I should take that will resolve this?
Many Thanks
Simon
Hi! Are you sure you're not
Hi! Are you sure you're not running any extra 'internet security' or 'firewall' programs? Also how far away from you from your router? Because I've noticed that I'll sometimes time out or completely disconnect if my router's having an off day, I'm to far away, or the dog happens to walk past me in a certain way ;)
To me that sounds like the most likely problem. Since you can see the book on the iPod, and stanza goes to download it (otherwise you wouldn't see it all if it was a port being closed or other network issue). As an experiment you could open the book on your computer, and then get within a couple feet of your router and turn wifi on/see if it still times out.
