I followed the instruction

I followed the instruction and it worked flawlessly. Booted out all the pictures but not a problems s the application only deals with text.
Thank you so much.

Uh, if you launch Stanza on your iPod Touch/iPhone, the Stanza Book will tell you how to do this.

UNABLE TO SHARE A BOOK

I have the same problem as KevinR. I don't get any pop-up window on the Mac behind, above, below Stanza. It is very frustrating. I have no problems with other transfers to the iPod touch through airport.

Have you tried all the

Have you tried all the suggestions at http://www.lexcycle.com/faq/troubleshooting_sharing? The vast majority of the time, time outs are caused by a firewall, either on the PC or on the router. If you disable any firewalls both on your PC and router, do you have any more luck?

Unable to share a book

I followed the procedure above.
The book I'm trying to share is actually open (in Stanza Deskop).
I have both Tools->Enable Sharing and Tools->Allow Anonymous Sharing.
My iMac and iPhone are both on the same wireless network (via an airport extreme).

The IPhone (2G) Stanza app sees my desktop computer, and when I select it (right arrow), the app spins for a while then presents the following error:

Error: Error downloading http://.local.:9562/:Error Domain=NSURLErrorDomain Code=-1001 UserInfo=0x182a60 "timed out"

I was assuming since the IPhone could correctly identify my iMac (by name) that Bonjour was working. I also tried explicitly putting in a port rule mapping 9562 -> stanza desktop machine 9562. I still get the above timeout message.

Any suggestions?

Kevin

A requestor should have popped up (or under)

on Stanza Desktop for Macintosh, asking for permission for the iPhone to access your computer-did you see one? Mine was hidden under a bunch of windows the first time I tried :P

Is this the same procedure on

Is this the same procedure on iPhone 3G?

If you mean my instructions below..

then yes :P

Have similar problems in syncing with ipod touch

Hi...

I am a frustrated user, now.

I'm suffering similar problems in syncing. In my case, I have tried to transfer a txt file to ipod touch, but my touch keeps failing to find THE shared books (not even able to find my PC). I've tried every step as you recommended - turning off a firewall, removing and reinstalling the recommended bonjour - but your stanza does not work.

Also, a minor issue. Do my ipod touch and computer should be in same network? Isn't it enough if the ipod is connected to the PC through a sync cable to find the shared books?

Thanks

You cannot share books thru the USB sync cable

All sharing has to be done over Wi-Fi.
Apple does not allow 3rd party Apps (like Stanza) to directly access the dock connector for transfers at this time.

To Transfer a PDF file to your iPod Touch from your Mac or PC

You will need to use Stanza for Macintosh or Stanza for Microsoft Windows:
http://www.lexcycle.com/download
Once you install Stanza Desktop on your Macintosh or PC:

START the Stanza Desktop program on your computer.
OPEN your PDF file using the File menu.
Stanza should show you your PDF file-make sure it looks readable. If it doesn't look correct in Stanza Desktop, it probably won't work on Stanza for iPod Touch either. If the PDF file is full of images instead of text, Stanza will not read it correctly. Stanza only reads TEXT PDF files.
ENABLE sharing in Stanza Desktop (under Menu/Tools)

Now that the PDF file is open in Stanza Desktop, your iPod Touch will be able to transfer it.

TOUCH the Stanza App on the iPod Touch to start the app.
TOUCH “Shared Books” on the iPod Touch
TOUCH on your computer name under “Shared Books”

Your Mac or PC will now ask if it is ok for your iPod Touch to access the file
ALLOW Stanza Desktop to accept connection from the iPod Touch (Requestor)
The PDF file should show up on your iPod Touch, with a green arrow pointing downwards
TOUCH on the PDF file
You should see the spinning wait icon for a bit-once the PDF file transfers the green arrow will turn into a blue arrow pointing to the right.
TOUCH on the PDF file again
The PDF file should now be on your iPod Touch, and look similar to the PDF file open on your computer.

IMPORTANT:
Must be on Wi-fi network (Both iPod Touch and Computer on same network)
Must have Bonjour (to broadcast sharing service to iPod Touch)
Must have Port 9562 open on your Firewall

TIPS IF BOOKS DON'T SHOW UP IN SHARING:
For Windows, try to totally uninstall Bonjour using Add/Remove Programs, then reinstall from Apple: http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/bonjourforwindows.html
Don't rely on the Bonjour for Windows that installs with iTunes-it doesn't seem to work with Stanza.

Try temporarily turning off your Firewall completely to see if its a Firewall issue.
