Description of issue: When I try to open epub books, I get gibberish--nonsense characters, etc. I have tried with several books. All are unsecured, and all open fine in ereader.

It sounds like the .pdb file
It sounds like the .pdb file might be in the eReader format, which we do not yet support. Unfortunately, the .pdf suffix encompasses a number of different file formats, some of which we support (like Mobipocket and PalmDoc), and others which we do not yet support (like eReader). We are working on implementing support for these files in the future, but for the time being, you will need fine some other solution for converting the document.
