I was experiencing the problem of opening files only to see a blank page on most documents. After some investigation I found the files that had 'document properties' worked fine. For example a word doc with just plain text in it didn't work but after I went to Prepare > Properties and added Title information it did work. This is using Microsoft Word 2007 (saving out as *.doc). Exporting to pdf worked too but I would lose my line spacing. I've been unsuccessful with plain text documents.

The issue of not being able to start up Stanza is possibly due to having multiple copies of Stanza running. This happens if Stanza crashes and you start up another copy. You can kill the copies by bringing up the Task Manager and ending any instances of javaw.exe.
