Formatting question: max image size/ratio for Stanza iPhone?

Hi, I'm formatting a comic book to be read on Stanza on iPhone/iPod touch. Everything's going fine, but we're having a little trouble with image sizing to display as large as possible when the phone is turned sideways (the comic panels are landscape format). We have them at 960x640 so when they resize they will be 480x320, but for some reason this is happening: http://twitpic.com/op7wa (bottom of image is bleeding over onto next page).

Could someone tell me what is the max allowable display size on Stanza? I'm wondering if it's secretly not quite the same as iPhone screen ratio, et it's 460x320... any enlightenment would be a great help! Stanza is actually working great for our comic, once we sort this image size issue out.

@kjk - I re coded everything

@kjk - I re coded everything last night to use SVG. It looked great on ADE. I mean, GREAT great.

Then I sent the beta out to Stanza users. They got page after page of blank screens. Stanza doesn't support SVG. Grrr! And back to futzing about with manual image resizing.

Argh! sorry to hear that-I really hope Stanza evolves to support more ePub standards. Hope you find an optimal image size! If you do, please post back here so we can all try :D

Well, I'm still really glad

Well, I'm still really glad you posted about SVG, I was a bit scared of trying it and it's made such an improvement to the view quality on other e-readers that are more compliant with industry standards. So: thank you.

As soon as I sort out the image issue, I'll let you all know, and post a copy of the beta so those who wish to can simply rip code.

Not sure what the actual maximum height is in the landscape mode, but it will definitely be less than 320 as you have to allow for the bar at the top, and the (very thin) progress bar at the bottom. The full width of 480 should be available. I am guessing, but the available resolution is probably something like 480 x 280.
