Some "Lists" Thoughts

A few thoughts from a new (PC/iTouch) user.

There is really need a pc/itouch "notes" transfer utility and stanza seems to be the best option at the moment. I sincerely hope that lexcycle will take the needs for this use into consideration. The single biggest problem is stanza's insistance on "wrapping" every line break which renders list formats useless.

I have, however, found that opening a text file in word and saving it as a doc file converts CR to paragraph and paragraph breaks don't "wrap" as CR's do.

on the itouch, settings (gear) offers paragraph spacing which is global but, when set low, works well with lists.

changing the font (i.e to courier new for lists) on the desktop is document specific and "sticks" to the filename.

However, setting font size and other attibutes such as bold, etc, on the desktop is not transferred to the itouch

word's page breaks are not recognized... would be very helpful!!!

top line of a text file creates title in a word doc... once created, must be edited in word properties to change the file's title

PC version of the desktop seems _very_ beta.

Thanks for a nice tool... looking forward to it's future.

"Stanza is

"Stanza is probably..."

Thanks... good information.

However, a web app doesn't fit my needs despite apple's feeling that it's the best, and, therefore, the only option ;-)

... I have a collection of text notes spanning two decades on different subjects and references, some private, so, it works better for me to be a bit more in control of the info, where it resides and who ultimately has access to it.

Will take a look at Simplenote again on your recommendation.

The Nano's ability to simply copy text files to a folder was the best option... could even use generic file sync programs to keep it updated connected only as a usb drive.

Stanza is probably the worst

Stanza is probably the worst app to use to transfering notes between your PC and your iPhone. Simplenote is the best I've found, but it doesn't have a PC client, just a web client. Evernote is much fancier (can put photos and html in notes and can even do handwriting and OCR) and has a decent desktop client, but its iPhone client handles caching strangely. You don't lose any data but you don't always have access to your notes offline.
