Hi all,
I'm quite new to this so apologies if this message has been posted on here a million times by different people (although I did search the forum to get an answer first - couldn't find anything to help me). I am in the UK and tried buying two books from Fictionwise and BooksOnBoard via the Stanza app on my iPhone. However, it said they didn't have the rights to be purchased in the UK. So, I ended up purchasing them through the UK WHSmith ebook shop in PDF format.
I have managed to download them fine on my PC - they have to be opened with Adobe Digital Editions. I have set up an Adobe ID, authorized my computer and gone systematically through each of the steps to download the two books onto my iPhone. However, the first step using Stanza Desktop came up with an error message 'Could not load book' (something to do with java??), the step using Gmail to email books seemed to work at first - but just will not open the attachment, despite being in desktop view. Tried opening attachment in Gmail on my PC and it says the attachement is password protected, so that explains why won't open on my iPhone. Have also now downlaoded Calibre, but the program won't even let me upload the two books before it comes up with an error message.
This has to be something to do with DRM, right? Is there anyway I can get them on my iPhone at all? I was wondering whether anyone knew how I can authorize my iPhone to my Adobe ID so it allows me to share info between my PC and iPhone...? Or any other way of sorting this out.
Any help or tips would be most appreciated!
Unfortunately, there we only
Unfortunately, there we only support secure eReader DRM books at the moment. We do not yet support secure PDF or ePub files. To my knowledge, there isn't yet any way to read these files on the iPhone.
