PDF Import - Question Marks every other character

When I tried to import a PDF file (an Apple programming doc) in Mac Desktop with the latest beta, all I get is garbage like this for the entire content with occasionally readable text:

?#?P?K?O?C?V?K?Q?P ?C?P?F ?6?K?O?K?P?I ?%?N?C?U?U?G?U ????
?.?C?[?Q?W?V ?/?C?P?C?I?G?T ?%?N?C?U?U?G?U ????
?6?T?C?P?U?C?E?V?K?Q?P ?/?C?P?C?I?G?O?G?P?V ?%?N?C?U?U?G?U ????
?%?Q?T?G ?#?P?K?O?C?V?K?Q?P ?4?G?P?F?G?T?K?P?I ?#?T?E?J?K?V?G?E?V?W?T?G ????

When I cut and paste from Apple Preview, it's normal text, but line breaks are missing.

Are there any settings I am missing to import PDFs? Thanks.

It sounds like it uses a

It sounds like it uses a character encoding that Stanza isn't properly identifying.

If you copy all the text and paste it into TextEdit.app, are the linebreaks still missing? If not, you could do that, then save the file as plain text, and then read that file into Stanza Desktop (which should then preserve the linebreaks).
