— 21 Cool iPhone Apps - Stanza
Updated to 1.9 today. Have been unable to find out what has been changed. Tried Google, lexcycle web pages including news, the app store, the read me doc in Stanza, etc. Nowhere was there a list of changes!!
I hope I've just overlooked something obvious, but it seems that each new version should have info about it loud and clear in each of the places I mentioned--especially on lexcycle.com and on lexcycle's own blurb on iTunes!!
Does it now have copy & paste?
In any event, maybe someone (lexcycle?) could post a list in reply to this post so the next person can find out what's new easily!!
Upgraded my first gen iPhone
Upgraded my first gen iPhone to 1.9 and I'd like to say thank you for the new batch download feature. I haven't tried it yet, myself, so I'm not aware of any bugs, but I can say that it's going to be extremely helpful for people with huge libraries who've had to delete Stanza from their iPhone for some reason or another. Transferring content over to the iPhone has been one of the main complaints about Stanza. I'm glad that's one area that was improved upon.
I'm building a clean copy of my Calibre library complete with covers, metadata, etc and weeding some of the junk out so I have something that syncs nicely with Stanza for iPhone. ^__^

We're glad you like it! We expect it to be quite popular.

Tried it on a couple of catalogs (the built-in freebies from Random House and Harlequin) and so far, it seems to be working great, but...
It got rid of the search button on pages that contain ebooks. I love the new feature, but is it possible to have both search and download all buttons available? Mayhaps put them in a toolbar at the bottom?
Strange! When you use the
Strange! When you use the App Store app on the i-device, there is NO info whatsoever about what the upgrade provides. It stops right *before* the WHAT'S NEW IN THIS VERSION blurb that you can find via iTunes on the laptop.
Before this, I hadn't realized that the App Store app doesn't show the same screen and info as iTunes from the desktop! Weird, eh?
In any event, the info should be provided in the other venues mentioned, too (lexcycle site, Stanza itself, etc.).
Strange, too... if there's now OS 3.0 compatibility, you'd think that cut/copy/paste would have been implemented. If so, I don't know how to invoke it. I guess it's 3.0 compatible because bugs, etc. have been fixed so it could operate without glitches under 3.0, although I hadn't run into any problems at all with it.
I could see the (short) list
I could see the (short) list of changes when I tapped on the Stanza item in the list of available updates.
Just to clarify for others
Just to clarify for others who come across this thread-- the update descrip shows up in iTunes, not on App Store on the i-device itself!
While we did implement fixes
While we did implement fixes for better compatibility with iPhone OS 3.0, we don't yet support copy & paste; we are considering adding support in the future.
As for the release notes, it is odd that they are not showing up on the iPhone App Store app itself. I expect that may be because we have a fairly lengthy application description.
The App Store says: - iPhone
The App Store says:
- iPhone OS 3.0 compatibilty
- book annotations
- improved page turning animations
Not a lot of change listed.
Well, they definitely got rid of the page curl transition.

"curl" was replaced with
"curl" was replaced with "turn", which is a more realistic simulation of a book page turning.
