It is still there
A few syncs later & it I still there. Solution: delete off iTunes before Re-installing. All books had to be found again.

I just upgraded to 1.9 version, and now I can't download anything from Gutemberg Project on my iphone 3G (firmware 3.0). Every time I get 'error 404'. Any clue?

This would be a different problem, and was an issue with the Project Gutenberg catalog that should now be fixed. Can you try again and let us know if the problem persists?
Are you sure it is gone, or
Are you sure it is gone, or might it just be on the second page of the iPhone screen? That has been known to happen, since the iPhone 3G added some new apps. You can check by going to the home screen on your iPhone and swiping your finger from the right side of the screen to the left.
If that doesn't help, try deleting Stanza from iTunes, syncing your iPhone, then rebooting the iPhone and re-installing Stanza.
Yeah it was gone
And I had re-installed a few times, but not deleted first off itunes - done that now, got back the books I paid for (lots of pwrds & credit card nos to sort) - Just hoping now that it sticks.
