Recently saw demo for Simultaneous Stanza Reader 1.3 on the mac. My sister is legally blind but likes to try to read. Will stanza on the ipod touch/phone ever have text to speech capabilities for the visually impaired.
I've recently started using Stanza and I'm very impressed. I use it for work and leisure, on my iPhone and Mac, and am amazed by its usability. Voice support would lift it to another - incredible - level. I guess Amazon might see this as a threat to Kindle, but think of the B2B applications for voice support... It could open another long tail market!
I've been scouring iPhone applications for something that will read text aloud, hopefully pdf files.
I have a wealth of pdf files that would be useful for me to listen to on my long commute to work or while waiting (let's say) at a doctor's office, etc.
There's people who drive lots of miles every day who would love to be able to listen to books, documents, etc on their commute.
Also, some colleges have their lecture notes in pdf format and students who listen to a lecture at least one more time retain the information much better. Your company is missing out on something big. Someone's going to scratch this severe need and theyre going to have a lot of $ale$.
Frankly why anyone would read from a tiny iPhone screen I have no idea... a Kindle yes for many reasons and more in the future... I have an iPhone and iPod by the way... so text to speech... would for me be a reason to have any reader on my iphone or iPod... plug in the bluetooth headset and walk or bike in one ear in a car on a long drive... listening to classics that one is not likely to read...no I don't have time for 400 page novels as I did when I was young but I would listen to them. I have used Audible and found it to be good but find their limited selection and filtering of books for political reasons... to be unacceptable.

We have considered adding
We have considered adding voice support but don't yet have any imminent plans.
