Hi,
I've been reading ebooks on my iPod Touch (G2 v3.0) for quite some time and it's performed flawlessly and always as I expected. My usual reading style is to prop the device up at about 50 degrees (on a treadmill magazine shelf) in landscape format.
I upgraded to an iPhone 3Gs (v3.0) last weekend and one of the first things I did was install Stanza and put some ebooks on the new device. When I prop the iPhone up same as the iPod Touch I get some really odd behaviour when I try to just page forward as per normal. Sometimes it seems to work normally, then it will go into strange behaviour such that when I touch on the screen the font size will decrease, or the screen will dim. The crazy thing is when I pick it up and page through, it appears to operate just fine.
It becomes so frustrating that I just resort back to the iPod Touch.
The settings are the same on both devices, so I am at a loss...
Does anyone have any ideas?
Sliding your finger up or
Sliding your finger up or down the screen makes the screen dim and doing a "pinch" gesture increases or decreases the font, so apparently when it is resting on something and you try to turn a page you are sliding your finger or fingers a little bit. You can turn both of those things off in the control settings if you want.
Hi, Ok I turned that off, and
Hi,
Ok I turned that off, and now I don't get the font or brightness changing, but there still seems to be an issue as occasionally it will page left when I have told it to page right, then no matter where I tap it on the right side it will still page left.
This seems to be more prevalent when I have propped the iphone up and am just tapping the screen to make it page. It seems to page just fine when I pick it up. Oddly enough, it pages ok (more often than not) if I am touching the case of the iphone before tapping the screen, so maybe this is some odd grounding issue to do with how the touch screen determines the location of a finger tap.
My current workaround will be just to read on my iPod touch (that has exactly the same settings BTW) as it performs just fine in the exact same situation.
Glen.
Do you have it in portrait or
Do you have it in portrait or landscape mode? If you enable "Lock Book Rotation" in the settings, does that change the behavior?
Also, if you try to turn the page by swiping your finger right-to-left (instead of tapping), does that change the behavior?
Lastly, is you upgrade to Stanza 1.9 in the App Store, are you still seeing the same problem?
