Since purchasing a new 3GS phone with OS 3, I am unable to see any 'shared books' on my iPhone.
I have opened the book file in stanza desktop and selected 'enable sharing' on the tools menu.
Any suggestions gratefully received.
Thanks

Shared books continued to work just fine for me after the 3.0 upgrade on an iPod Touch 1G.

sharing not working on OS 3.0
I can confirm, the sharing feature does not work at all on iPhone's OS 3.0. It doesn't see any shared books at all.
Stanza shared books "broken" with OS3?
I've deleted and reloaded Stanza for Windows and also deleted and reloaded Bonjour. I've reset, then restarted my iPhone. This is a 3G with the iPhone vs 3 OS upgrade. Before the upgrade to version 3, Stanza shared books worked fine.
I have an extensive home library of .txt file books which are not available in the Online Catalog. These are the books I need to transfer occasionally to my iPhone.
Shared books "sees" my connecting laptop, but can't find the book I'm trying to sync. I'm doing everything exactly as I used to do prior to the OS vs 3 upgrade. In the past, reloading Bonjour usually fixed the issue (this has happened several frustrating times before).
What else, hmmm.. oh, I've tried moving Stanza from my iPhone's first page to the last, that did nothing. I've reset Stanza's settings. I've checked to see that File Sharing is on in the desktop Stanza. No firewall issues.
Is this something which will be fixed in the new release? Thanks
No problem here!
I realize this offers only a limited bit of help, but I've had no problems with Shared Books under OS 3.0. I'm on an iPod Touch 2G. So, it does work on some i-devices!
Good luck, hope you find a solution soon. In the meantime, the wifi/3g access still works, right? I find that's a spiffier, easier way of fetching books in any event.
cant use shared book funtion since upgrade to 3.0
Since upgrade to iPhone 3.0 I can not use the shared funtion to download books from computer to iPhone. iPhone doesnt seem to be able to recogmoze my computer. No problems before upgade.
We haven't heard any other
We haven't heard any other reports of this problem with sharing in iPhone OS 3.0. Can you try the troubleshooting steps at http://www.lexcycle.com/faq/troubleshooting_sharing and let us know if you still encounter problems?
same problem
I'm also having this issue, on a 3G upgraded to the 3.0 software. I've tried disconnecting and reconnecting to the network, on both my phone and computer. I reinstalled Stanza Desktop and Bonjour on my desktop. I hesitate to delete and reinstall the iphone app, because I have a bunch of books in there I don't want to lose, so that's a last resort.
Basically, when I go to Shared Books, my computer doesn't show up anymore.

Hi I can see my computer from my ipod in the shared books section. However I could not see any shared book at all. I have tried all the trouble shooting steps. I have turned off the firewall. No firewall setting in my router as well. But nothing worked. please help.
Same Problem - no books showing in shared
Me too, I downloaded 50+ books with iPhone 2G (3.0 OS) and opened stanza desktop, enabled sharing, clicked "always allow" and no books show up. I can see the computer's empty library on the iphone, but can not sync my collection from iphone to my desktop client! WHY IS THIS SO HARD
There is currently no
There is currently no capability to copy your books from the iPhone back to the computer - only the other way is supported.
PS: not firewall issue
I don't have one up. NOT firewall issue... repeat after me: "this is not a firewall issue"
