I have an .epub book that when I open it in Adobe Digital Editions, there's a table of contents on the left side with Title, Dedication, Introduction, Contents, chapter I, chapter II, etc. When I go to Contents, it's a listing of all the chapters and the chapters are clickable, like a hyperlink, and then that takes me to the chapter.
However, when opening this particular .epub in Stanza on my iPod Touch, those hyperlinks are not clickable which means I can't go to that particular chapter that way. But then when I try the Bookmarks icon in Stanza the only option I see is "Chapters" and I can't click that! This means that using stanza on my ipod touch there isn't a way to choose a particular chapter to go to.
Is this a stanza limitation?
This means there is an error
This means there is an error in the table of contents in the epub file. Lately there have been epub files with incorrectly formatted tables of contents, and there is a bug in the epub validator that lets this error slip by. Adobe Digital Editions can sometimes recover from this kind of error, but Stanza expects file to be formatted properly.
If this is an epub you made yourself, you might want to look at this FAQ to see how to fix it.

If this is an epub you got from somewhere else, you might want to forward that FAQ onto whoever created the epub file so that they know they are formatting their tables of contents in correctly.
Thank you for the quick
Thank you for the quick response Emily.
I've uncompressed the .epub (I did not create the .epub) and I found the toc.ncx file. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like I can paste the contents here. Would you email me Emily so I can send you the toc.ncx file and you can tell me what you think? I can't find the item id="ncx" href="toc.ncx" section in the .epub.
I just sent you an email.
